Meet our people

Juliane Nicklass

Co-owner, CEO & Musher

Juliane Nicklass

Along with two co-owners, I started the company in 2014. When we began, I had one Alaskan Husky, Humla, who still serves as a lead dog in our guide team during tours.

Currently, 51 dogs live at the kennel, including both Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies, ranging from puppies to 15-year-olds, both females and males. Many of the dogs are purchased from other nearby kennels, and some are bred here with us.

Booking, Tours & MUSHER

Jonna Rosgårdh

My name is Jonna Rosgårdh and I’m 31 years old, from Uppsala. My husky and I moved to Västerbotten a year ago to experience the Northern Swedish lifestyle with snowy winters and vast mountains.

I discovered Spruce Island Husky during a trip through Granö and fell head over heels. The best part about working with dog sledding is experiencing the dogs’ drive, will, and strength. Seeing my fluffy colleagues run as they have done for thousands of years and thrive from it is fantastic.

Linnie

Musher

Linnie Lodestål

I was born and raised in Växjö in the south of Sweden. I always wanted to live in the north, so I moved here in 2011.

I have studied animals and nature, including Nature and Fauna Conservation in Värmland. I have worked different jobs in the forest and in the mountains. I also went to England and worked at kennels there.

I’ve always had dogs around me. I have had a bunch of my own sled dogs but now I only have 2 huskies. I have been a musher driving sled dogs for over 10 years.

What I love about working here is being able to show the guests the dogs’ eagerness to work and take them out on a magical adventure in our beautiful forest landscape.

KENNELMANAGER & MUSHER

Jennie Burman

I come from Vännäs, Västerbotten, where I live with my 14 Alaskan huskies. The farm also has some chickens, ducks, bees, and a house cat.

Animals and nature have always been the greatest interests in my life, and I have worked as an animal caretaker with both small animals and horses, as a horseback riding guide, and as a fish farmer.

My interest in sled dogs began many years ago, but for the past 4 years, I have had the opportunity to own my own sled dogs.

I feel great joy in being able to share the experience of the northern Swedish nature and the fantastic dogs with our guests.

Musher

Elin Andersson

I was raised in Småland, where I worked as an animal caretaker in agriculture. For years, I had dreamed of moving further north in the country, a goal I finally achieved in 2023 when I relocated to train as a nature guide. Recently, I’ve settled in Granö to pursue my passion for working with sled dogs.

Animals, nature, and dogs in particular have always held a special place in my heart. While my fascination with sled dogs began many years ago, it was the purchase of my Alaskan Malamute that truly cemented my devotion to this field.

As a dog sledding guide, I find the greatest joy in introducing guests to these remarkable dogs who thrive on their work, all while showcasing the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounds us here.

About Spruce Island Husky

Spruce Island Husky is an activities company in Granö, Västerbotten Sweden. We are three co-owners of the company. We started with dog sledding tours in the winter, but now we are open all year, offering a variety of fun and unique experiences related to husky dogs.

Currently, 51 dogs live at the kennel, including both Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies, ranging from puppies to 15-year-olds, both females and males. Many of the dogs are brought in from other nearby kennels, and some are bred here with us.

We offer husky tours to visitors from all over the world and cater to both individuals and groups. In addition to dog sledding we offer husky related activities all year.

We collaborate with our local hotel and restaurant facility, Granö Beckasin. Granö Beckasin offers our tours as part of packages for individuals and groups, as well as conference and meeting groups looking for a fun activity.

The restaurant at Granö Beckasin also prepares the soup for our tours, using mainly local ingredients, The soft flatbread served with the soup comes from our local bakery in Granö, Saras Glutenfria.

If you have questions about our dogs, training, food, job opportunities, or internships, you can contact us via email at spruceislandhusky@gmail.com

Husky House is a guided tour and experience for the whole family where you’ll learn a lot about the history of sled dogs, how we train the dogs, and how they work. Of course, you’ll also get to meet some of the dogs and cuddle with cute puppies.

Playground and outdoor cooking

On-site, there’s a fun dog-themed playground where children get to play living life as a dog, which is a perfect ending after the tour. In our outdoor café and shop, we sell everything from coffee, drinks, and snacks to traditional Swedish kolbullar and hot dogs which you cook yourself over an open fire. All ingredients and accessories, plus instructions on how to prepare them, are available for purchase in the café.

Our outdoor seating area has barbecue spots and fires for a fun cooking experience together. Most of our ingredients come from local food producers in our area. There are both gluten-free and lactose-free options available, and staff on-site can assist if you have questions about other ingredients.

The shop offers a variety of nice dog-themed products, ranging from dog treats to jewellery and toys for children.
